Inserting your own picture into a MC USA V2 template.

1. Prepare the picture you want to insert.  You will need to crop and resize the picture to 400 pixels width in a program like Picasa (to name just one freebie out there).  Height should be 160 pixels.

2. Log into Caravel with an administrative account. Upload your cropped and re-sized picture by going to File Manager under the Tools menu and uploading the file as usual.  The Pictures folder is a good place to put this, but you can choose another folder if you wish.  After uploading, close the File Manager window.

3. Under the Template Menu, choose Change Template.  Select the small down arrow at the right of the Template box and go to the bottom of the list to select a global template beginning with MC USA V2.  Check the box marked "Set this template as site default:" ONLY if you wish to do this.  Then select the Change button.

4. Go back to the Template Menu and choose Edit Template.  A question will pop up.  Select OK to make a local copy.  You will need to wait a few seconds for Caravel to make this copy.  It is important to have a local copy of your template.

5. On the block with the generic picture, select Set Styles under the Block Options menu (palette).  A Caravel CSS page will come up with Blocks highlighted in the left column.

6. You will notice in the Background section in the right column that Background image has been checked.  Select the link to the right of that marked Select an existing file...  Select the picture that you uploaded into File Manager by highlighting it and pressing the button Select File at the bottom.  Scroll to the bottom of the page and select the Save & Close button. Your picture is now inserted into the template.  You can now use the Site Navigator menu on the left to navigate away from the template to the page you originally started with.

7. Alternate to #6 to continue the MC swoosh without a picture:  You will notice in the Background section in the right column that Background image has been checked.  Uncheck it and instead check Background color.  Insert the number 00A160 into the box marked #.  Select Apply to the color picker.  Scroll to the bottom of the page and select the Save & Close button.

Caravel doesn't like the pound sign (#) in file names.  So rename your picture files.
